Criminal breach of trust is a non-bailable offense, and if convicted, the punishment can vary depending on the value of the property involved. If the value exceeds Rs. 2,000, the offense is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, and/or with a fine. If the value does not exceed Rs. 2,000, the offense is punishable with imprisonment for a term that may extend to three years, and/or with a fine.
